Holiday Weekend Shopping
Out-of-town visitors this weekend, so I completely missed sharing a tidbit of information yesterday. My apologies!
Meanwhile, I have a few items to share. If you are in Vermont and head to Cheese Traders in South Burlington this weekend, they are selling six-packs of Fosters lager for $4.99. If you like Fosters lager, this is an incredibly great price! Fosters and some barbecued food - you just can’t go wrong!
Word is that Cheese Traders is gearing up for their annual Garage Sale. This year, I’ve counted a dozen wines being offered for $2.99 a bottle. This includes:
- Carmen Chardonnay Reserva
- Casa Solar Blanco 2005
- DMG Viognier 2003
- Dom St. Martin Cuvee Blanc
- Gandia Liria White 2004
- Jean-Pierre Baron Sauvignon 2006
- King Fish Chard
- Pacific Peaks Chardonnay
- Tomasello Blueberry
- Tomasello Cranberry
- Uniao 03 White
- Vega Maria Tempranillo
The annual garage sale is set to begin first thing June 2nd. Having experienced these sales in the past, I can tell you the best way to get the wines is by arriving as early as possible. Area restaurants are known to go in and buy up as much wine stock as possible.
If you happen to be in Williston, Vermont, it’s a city right off Interstate 89 and along Route 2, stop in and check out the Goodwill store. I popped in yesterday looking for a couple of books and ended up spending $8 for a set of golf clubs. My son has just taken up the sport and needed his own set of clubs.
Not only was the club set in excellent shape, but they also came in a leather bag and had the socks over all the woods. Made my uncle wish he’d opted to come with us!
The Goodwill in Williston is relatively new and usually packed with surprise bargains! It’s located right on Harvest Lane that is pretty easy to find. After getting off the Interstate, turn onto Route 2 heading into Williston. Take a left at the first set of lights and then take a right at the second set of lights. Goodwill shares a building with an excellent grocery/organic store - Natural Provisions.

Finally, garage sale season traditionally kicks off Memorial Day weekend. Driving from my home to my parents’ home yesterday along Route 104 and Route 15, I saw dozens of small and large yard sales. Hopping in your car is usually all it takes to find bargains of all kinds!
One of the largest yard sales occurs at the Methodist Church in Jericho. The church is right on Route 15 after climbing Joe’s Hill (locals call it this, but out-of-staters will easily find it by heading towards Underhill, passing Joe’s Snack Bar right after entering Jericho. The hill is right after Joe’s.)
